About the Designer.

Hello! I am Tiara Kobayashi-Bautista and I was born and raised on Maui, Hawaiʻi. I graduated in 2022 from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design.

Through design and illustration, I want to celebrate the Hawaiian culture, as well as the Japanese culture specific to Hawaiʻi. I am inspired by the mix of each of these cultures, as well as each culture individually.

Fun fact: the name "Koba" is a combination of the first syllable of my two last names, Kobayashi and Bautista.

About the Brand.

As an additional meaning and representation, Koba also translates to "small places" in the Japanese language. We as humans spend so much time waiting for what's coming next, preparing for big moments like parties, weddings, graduations, vacations, that we forgot to take notice of what is happening int he present time, and the everyday elements that make them up.  Pay attention to who and what makes you happy, who you share your meals with, who you go shopping with, places that make you feel comforted, because those kinds of things (90% of our lives) truly make up our character character story.
